This Mishnah presents sayings of Rabban Gamliel, a leading authority in the Sanhedrin in the mid 1st century CE, and grandson of Hillel.
Hebrew Text[edit]
רַבָּן גַּמְלִיאֵל הָיָה אוֹמֵר:
עֲשֵׂה לְךָ רַב.
וְהִסְתַּלֵּק מִן הַסָּפֵק.
וְאַל תַּרְבֶּה לְעַשֵּׂר אֳמָדוֹת.
English Translation[edit]
Rabban Gamliel used to say:
Provide for yourself a teacher.
And remove yourself from doubt.
And do not make a habit of tithing by guesswork.
