Certain acts of several states, that relate to the tonnage of vessels declared to be in operation till the tenth of January next.Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the consent of Congress be, and is hereby declared to the operation of the acts of the
several states herein after mentioned, so far as the same relate to the levying a duty on the tonnage of ships and vessels for the purposes therein mentioned until the tenth day of January next—that is to say: an act of the General Assembly of the state of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, at their session held in January, one thousand seven hundred and ninety, intituled “An act to incorporate certain persons by the name of the River Machine Company, in the town of Providence, and for other purposes therein mentioned;” and also, an act of the General Assembly of the state of Maryland, at their session in April, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-three, intituled “An act appointing wardens for the port of Baltimore-town in Baltimore county;” as also, another act of the General Assembly of the same state, passed at their session in November, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-eight, intituled “A supplement to the act intituled, An act appointing wardens for the port of Baltimore-town in Baltimore county;” and also, an act of the state of Georgia,The act of August 11, 1790, ch. 45, is inserted among the private laws. “for levying and appropriating a duty on tonnage, for the purpose of clearing the river Savannah, and removing the wrecks and other obstructions therein.”
