Public domain[edit]

This is the best simple list for trying to explain what is in the public domain in the US

Someone only has the right to publish work that is in the public domain, or work that complies with copyright law. Someone cannot claim copyright on someone else's intellectual property unless it has been legally acquired and is not already in the public domain. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:26, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much...this is very helpful.

FBI case file for the Zodiac[edit]

Would this be the place to upload the FBI's public version of the case file on the Zodiac Killer? 1037 pages in 5 files. Names and addresses have been blacked out in the public version and it's in the public domain. They are pdf format. If not here, should it go to the Commons? Thank you for your help, btw. :)

Will upload at Commons.

Definitely to Commons. Then you will need to create an Index:filename.pdf here that corresponds with the filename at Commons. From there work can begin in the Page: namespace. Read: Help:Proofread and give us a hoy if needed. — billinghurst sDrewth 03:45, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
