I see that you have left a message for Charles, so a little wave from another of the DNBers, and a link to Wikisource:WikiProject DNB -- billinghurst sDrewth 03:52, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks for the welcome as well as the link. Previously I was involved mainly in WP, however became a little bit too frustrated about some things there in the last time, so I'm afraid you will be stuck with me here from now. :-) Best wishes ~~ Phoe talk ~~ 04:23, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That is a shame, however, I am sure that we will cope. I hope that we can find lots of lovely things to taunt you with, and that our good manners and lack of politics are bearable to you.
Charles, I'll distract and hold, you chain!
billinghurst sDrewth 04:32, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry! Generally I'm easily to be satisfied: give me work, give me a manual, give me a style guide and keep away any drama from me ... for good measure however I can provide you also with my bank account number :-) ~~ Phoe talk ~~ 14:01, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Good to have you here among the cheerfully overworked. Please do ask about any DNB stuff. The project is creating a monster, probably with a bolt through its neck. While we have a manual it is not up to WP standards of completeness, and I say that as someone who is constantly clicking to and fro. Charles Matthews (talk) 18:01, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Charles for the welcome and the checking. I had noticed the size of the DNB already when had I downloaded all the volumes from archive.org in the last year and later also noticed the huge number of missing/unworked pages here (no offense :-) ) when I wrote or expanded articles about some of its entrys (for example [1]), which also is a reason why I decided to start here following my retirement at WP. ~~ Phoe talk ~~ 19:08, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We're still not yet on 10% of articles done, but we'll get to that milestone soon enough, since the project is accelerating. One aim is to reference all the WP articles that use DNB text (like the Blamire one), and that target is also attainable - I'm working on that side daily. The most efficient way to work is to choose a volume (with a good scan!) and work through a block of articles. I find it more interesting to jump around, though, following up some topic; but that is where it starts to become more complex. Anyway, I hope you find some way of working that is attractive: whatever interests you, really. Charles Matthews (talk) 22:54, 22 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{pad}} vs {{gap}}[edit]

I didn't stop to look, however, you may wish to compare your new template against our existing, and see whether they are that different. Also, we don't close off Special:Import, so you can easily pull stuff over from WP. billinghurst sDrewth 13:53, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I know of {{pad}} from WP and when I did'nt found it here, I created it. Compared to {{gap}} it uses a different code, however the effect is largely the same, so I have replaced it; may I commission you for its deletion? Thanks and also for the pointer. Concerning Special:Import I wouldn't have had the necessary right(s) ..."The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Administrators, Importers, Transwiki importers."...
