Hello Clockery, many thanks for welcoming me to Wikipedia. RASLib (talk) 15:47, 7 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

July 2014[edit]

This is an account that (claims to) officially represent the Royal Astronomical Society. (claim). I noted that on the user's page, and it was reverted with this comment:

don't think this is appropriate, any anonymous user can "claim" anything, at best this should be confirmed by the RAS official website; individual accounts own the copyright of their edits, not their employer - Edit summary of Solomon7968

I agree with the summary, but not with the revert. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:ROLE&redirect=no is informative as to what's appropriate and why, though officially it applies to that wiki.

Note: The RAS made farfetched copyright claims (See discussion, and Asclepias's comments here and here) on the same work via OTRS resulting in the deletion of [:File:Herbert_Hall_Turner.jpg], based on a poor interpretation of 'significant' in "beyond a significant doubt". I'm of the opinion that the RAS has probably committed copyfraud. --Elvey (talk) 17:40, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
