Thanks for your suggestion about the lead of the DNB project page. That page has evolved, and we have lost track of the fact that it should start by informing newcomers: we now mostly just talk to each other. I have twice corrected this, but we keep falling back to our old habits. I will try again some time this weekend.

In the mean time, Welcome! The DNB is a massive collection of short biobraphies of "the British people, from earliest times up to the present" where "present" is the time it was written i.e, 1885-1900, and "british" means the biritish empire and its antecedents. Many of these biographies are still the best secondary sources for their subjects, which is why the DNB is so important. If you would like to help us, please do. Our articles are the most useful when they are paired with articles on Wikipedia. -Arch dude (talk) 03:12, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I just added a temporary new lead. Please review and comment, or edit it as needed. -Arch dude (talk) 03:23, 1 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

FitzGerald, James Edward D.A.B. entry[edit]

I've now edited — https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Page:The_Dictionary_of_Australasian_Biography.djvu/179 — with SIC templates for "Lyttleton" so it will now show “ [sic] 'Lyttelton'” when you hover over the word. This shows up now in the article for FitzGerald, James Edward. Nice pickup by the way! I do remember seeing word spelt incorrectly when editing and left it in (as it should so we are faithful to the printed work). I learnt about the SIC template later on. Usage in this case was: {{SIC|Lyttleton|Lyttelton}} Diverman (talk) 06:45, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Good to know how it's done. Thanks for fixing it. Over time, I have eliminated "Lyttleton" from Wikimedia Commons. Schwede66 (talk) 07:00, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
