Hello Sfan00 IMG, welcome to Wikisource! Thanks for your interest in the project; we hope you'll enjoy the community and your work here.

You'll find an (incomplete) index of our works listed at Wikisource:Works, although for very broad categories like poetry you may wish to look at the categories like Category:Poems instead.

Please take a glance at our help pages (especially Adding texts and Wikisource's style guide). Most questions and discussions about the community are in the Scriptorium.

The Community Portal lists tasks you can help with if you wish. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page!

Hello

please, don't change the position of the rightside note template (as you have done in Page:The Solar System - Six Lectures - Lowell.djvu/20), because it's needed for the transclusion The Solar System/Chapter 1.

Thank you

slow down[edit]

All of your OCR requests to Index:1947SydneyHailstorm.djvu have resulted in garbage. The OCR button should only to be used if you are going to clean up the OCR output. Please do not request OCR for pages you do not intend to clean up, and only request OCR a few pages ahead of yourself.

Also, you are validating pages at one per minute. That is not possible. Validating a page means you are 100% sure that there are no errors on that page. John Vandenberg (chat) 03:29, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I assessed your contributions too quickly and harshly. There has been some external criticism that our proofing process is inadequate in comparison to Distributed Proofreaders, so I over-reacted when I saw what appeared to be an impossible progression of many pages through the final stage of our process. I didnt notice that many of the pages you were validating were blank and other easy to verify pages. p.s. I have started a proposal to remove the OCR button from the default interface. John Vandenberg (chat) 04:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you automatically proofing pages?[edit]

I don't want to sound rude, but I just ran across Page:ThomsonsPolly page06.png, which you marked as validated. There was no text on the page to validate.

You also validated Page:ThomsonsPolly page05.png, despite the fact that it was missing the majority of its text.

Please stop marking pages as validated if you haven't actually proofed them. EVula // talk // 03:50, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see the problem for these pages. The text is conformed to the scan. Yann (talk) 16:19, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proofing/Validating pages[edit]

Hi,

I've noticed that you have been marking as "proofread" (and in some instances "validated") pages that are not ready for either designation. Could you please either take the time to make sure that they are proofread/valid before marking them as such? (This involves taking some care in making sure that the pages are accurate; cursory glances are not enough.) If you do not want to spend the extra time to do this, please leave them marked as "not proofread." Thanks.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 15:36, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, really; the only problematic ones were some of the really math-heavy pages (in Lowell's The Solar System) and they've been put to the correct status. I'm curious, though, why you demoted some of the pages (81-85) of Our American Holidays from validated to merely proofread status. They seem absolutely perfect to me; did I miss something on them?—Zhaladshar (Talk) 17:44, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah. Am I taking it that when you are doing the American Holidays book you're adding the top header (page number and title of book/section)? If so, I'll be sure to add those when I proof/validate those pages to help retain consistency. I'm going to repromote to "valid" status some of the Holidays pages you demoted because I know they've all been fully proofed and it looks like the lack of page numbering has now been fixed. :) —Zhaladshar (Talk) 21:15, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proofread of the month[edit]

Hey, you may want to weigh in again here. Cheers. Suicidalhamster (talk) 12:03, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fully expanded author names are preferred[edit]

I see that you fixed some of the redirects for abbreviated author names. The preference is for the fully expanded author name to be reflected in the pagename. FYI I have been moving back the pages, and rolled back the redirect modifications. -- billinghurst (talk) 10:50, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Problematic[edit]

Hi. I see that you created a template for illegible characters, with corresponding Category. The use of Problematic in the Page namespace does a similar identification of problem pages. I am wondering whether the use that category may be appropriate rather than an additional category. -- billinghurst (talk) 13:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sweet. If you are aware, that is what matters. I will go back and sit in my corner. :-) -- billinghurst (talk) 13:11, 17 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sfan00 IMG! I’m very grateful for the terrific proofing work you did on Index:Copyright Law Revision (Senate Report No. 94-473).djvu. I have improved the text as much as I am able and have advanced most of the pages to Validated (green) status. I would love to have the rest of the pages marked as Validated, too, so I can mark this project as complete and cross it off my to-dos. Given your familiarity with the work and your helpful contributions earlier in the proofing process, I thought I would ask you if you’d be willing to look over the remaining Proofread (yellow) pages and bring them up to Validated? Many thanks for any help you can provide! Tarmstro99 (talk) 01:04, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
