[edit] Template:note and Template:ref

Template links
{{note}} and {{ref}}
Placement
Within body text at point of choosing and towards the end of the text.
Parameters
One parameter only, the number of the footnote reference.

The two templates work together, note links automatically to an identically named reference point in the text; ref links to the named footnote at the bottom of the page. This allows the reader to jump to the footnote and back again to resume reading the text where they left off.
