There has been much previous discussion of these issues at Wikisource talk:Protection policy.

Rewrite?

This page lists nothing but possible methods for preserving the integrity of texts. Currently, only one method is used (and this method—unless developers enable ProtectSection here) will probably be the only one used. Would anyone object to me rewriting this page so that it is more relevant to its page name. It is also linked from our inclusion page as an explanation for static texts. Hi, I think it is important to have a place where all possibilities are discussed, even if they are only important for the future. (E.g. stable pages, when it is enabled, will probably be used a huge amount.) What would you say about rewriting the article in a way that clearly reflects what is currently used, but still gives descriptions of the other possibilities? Dovi 19:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

That's fine, but the page needs to be expanded to actually reflect the philosophy of text integrity and our mission for preserving it (which it currently does not—it only talks about the methods of preserving it, not the reasons).—Zhaladshar ^(Talk) 20:02, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
