Willows are white as breath upon silver

Beneath a dark sky:

On a grey waste of waters the promise of summer

Floats eddying by.

And the nest that we built in the grass by the river,

The home of our dream,

Far from men, where we sang through the soft summer weather

Lies under the stream.

Come quickly, the night will bring silence and darkness

To cover my tears

And stars will shine brighter above the dark waters

And shadowy weirs.
