אפדנא m. (h. אפדן, Pers.; v. Friedr. Del. Proleg. p. 149, note) country-seat, mansion, palace. Targ. Jer. XLIII, 10 (h. text שפריר). - M. Kat. 12a. Ber. 56a. אפובלסמון, אפופלסמון m. (δποβαλσαμν) juice of the balsam-tree, balsam. Gen. R. s. 27 א׳ מביאין היו וכ׳ ושף (read ושפין) they would take balsam and smear it on the stones (of the houses of the wealthy); Y. Shebi. v, 55d bot. בא׳ רושמין marked out with balsam. Y. Hor. אפוכי (אופכי, איפוכי) f. (אפך, הפך, cmp. חליפין) return, exchange, eguivalent, settlement (cmp. esp. Targ. Prov. XXIV, 29, a. P. Sm. s. v. הפך). Lev. R. s. 34, end היא הן דידה א׳ (Yalk. Lev. 665 איפוכין, pl.) where is the equivalent for the money spent? Ib. and of all those (praised for their deeds with ashre) זה אלא א׳ נטל לא (Yal. l. c. איפוכין) none received the promise of an equiv- alent except this (Ps. XLI, 2). Gen.
