פותה f. (b. h. פתות pl.; v. פתה) socket of the door-pin. Kel. XI, 2 הציר שתחת פ׳ ed. Dehr. (oth. ed. פותת) the hole under the hinge; Num. R. s. 12 (expl. פתות, IKings VII, 50) וכ׳ פותה זה (some ed. פותת) this is (what the Mishnah Kel. l. c. calls) &c. -- Pl. סותות. Pesik. R. s. 6.
פותח m. (פתח) opening, aperture; טפח פ׳ an aperture a hand-breadth wide. Ohol. III, 6 ט׳ בפ׳ the aperture required in the case is a hand-breadth wide. Ib. 7 יש ט׳ פ׳ ביציאתו ויש ט׳ פ׳ בו iff it (the gutter) is a hand- breadth wide, and its outer end is of the same sige &c. Ib. XIII, 2 ט׳ בפ׳ שעורה the standard measure is the width of &c.; a. fr. -- Tosef. ib. X, 2, a. fr. טפת סותי (r. פתה) width.
פותחת f. (פתח) 1) lock. B. Bath. VI, 5 פ׳ וb עושה זה וכ׳ this one (the owner of the well) has the right to put on a lock, and so that one (the owner of the house) has. Kel. XIII, 6, v. הף; a. fr. -- Pl. שותחות. Tam. III, 7. Mekh. B'shall. s. 1 לפ׳ להם היו ועינים and they (the rocky forms) had eyes in place of locks(). - 2) pl. פותחות hinges, socket andpivot. Num. R. s. 12 (expl. פתות, IKings VIIsso) אלו פ׳ it means the hinges (sockets and pivots); Cant. R. to III, 10 חפיפות read; פ׳ חפי, v. חף; Pesik. R. s. 6 הבלוטין שבפ׳ the pegs (pivots) of the hinges.
פותי m. (פתה) width. טפח פ׳, v. פותח. Tanh. Bo 14 [read) רצועה של ופותיה the width of the strap.
פותיא, פותיה ch. same, 1) width. Targ. Ex. XXVI, 8; a. fr. - Yeb. 63a לפ׳ Rashi (ed. לפותיה) widthwise (of the fleld); a. e. -2) enlargementt, delivery. Targ. Ps. CXVIII, 5 Ms. (ed. Wil. פתיא; ed.
