או m. (contr. of אהו, אהי v. הו, הי) he, that, this (only in Y. Dial). [Y. Ber. II, 5b top מקשי או, read הוה מ׳; ed. Amst. בעי.] Y. B. Bath. III, 14b I was jesting גברא באו with that man. Y. Snh. XI, beg. 30a מר(ד(א באו with him who says-- Fem. אי. -- Y. Erub. III, 21b bot. אי אידא אי אידא it is all the same; v. אידא II.
אוארא (אוירא) m. (אור; cmp. h. form צואר), only in דליבני א׳ a pile of loose bricks with openings between, opp. to solid wall. Bets. 31b; 36a; Erub. 34b Ms. Rashi (v. Rabb. D. S. a. l.; ed. אוירא, cmp. איירא; Ar. אארא, derives fr. Pers.).

אובל, אבל m. (v. יובל) 1) river. Dan. VIII, 2; 3; 6. -- 2) as a pr. n. Ubal (The River). Gen. R. s. 16 (referr- ing to Dan. l. c.) וכ׳ אוותנטין א׳ Ubal is the source of all the other rivers.
אובלא I=אבלא. Targ. Y. Gen. VII, 10; a. e.
אובלא II (אוכלא, אכלא) m. (יבל) vessel made of willow twigs; basket, or perforated trough; (as to shape v. Sm. Ant. s. v. Calathus). Bekh. 43b, v. בילון a. כילון. Sab. 123b; Snh. 92a, a. e. דקצרי א׳ Ar. (ed. אוכ׳) the fuller's trough. Ib. 28b the father of the husband and the father of the wife are no more kinsmen א׳ כי אלא לדנא (ed. אכלא) than is a basket related to a barrel. [For אכלא, אוכלא cmp. כליל, כלכלה.]

אובצנא m. (אבץ. cmp. חבץ II, a. חבץ P. Sm. 1181 sq.) heavy pressure, overload, prostration from heavy load. Targ. Y. Num. XIX, 2. -- B. Mets. 36b דהר א׳ the prostration from carriyng a load up hill. אובשין, אבשין m. pl. (b. h. באשים; cmp. אבשונא) a species of inferior grapes. Maasr. I, 2 והאו׳ הענבים משיבאישו Ar. (ed. Talm. B. משה׳ והאב׳; Talm. Y. הבאושין) grapes and ubshin are subject to tithes from the time they are called באושה q. v. -- Y. Ter. VIII, 45b top ענבים וכ׳ ואו׳ grapes or ubshin for a sick person.

A bill of indebtedness passed from R. Huna (who could not decide or on whose decision the party would not rely) to R. Sh. -- on which bill ogdoe was blurred (showing an erasure), and conta was clear. Said R. Sh. to R. H., Go and see what is the lowest numeral in Greek that conta is com- bined with. Said he, It is triaconta (thirty). -- When the party had left, he said, That man intended to make thirty (by the erasure) and lost twenty (the original having been fifty, penteconta).

אוגיא (אגיא) m. (אגי, sec. r. of אוג, v. און; cmp. עוגה) rounded of, whence a field or fields surrounded with a ridge or ditch. Ned. 6b. Ber. 6a לא׳ כסלא כי like the ridge surrounding the field.
