גילא II, גילא, גלא m. (גלל) 1) something rounded. Succ. 34a ג׳ חילפא a willow with rounded leaves. Sabb. 110a; Men. 42b ג׳ מ)גביא) (v. מגביא) liquid alum in round- ed form (otbfrx~tu at~o;~x, v. Sm. גילהי, גולהי m. pl. (גלי; cmp. שילהי fr. שלה) [un- coverings,] flashes, the glowing horizon. Taan. 3b דליליא גי׳ (Ms. M. גו׳) the glow after sunset. Pes. 13a top וכ׳ בגי׳ Ms. M. (ed. בגילויא) he was standing in the glow before sunrise (mistaking it for the flashing of sunrise, v. הנץ); Snh. 42a (ed. בגילויא).
גילוח m. (גלח) shaving, hair-cutting. Macc. 21a ג׳ וכ׳ בו שיש a cutting with which a destruction is connected (which attacks the roots); a. fr.

גילוי, גלוי m. (גלי) 1) uncovering. -עריות־ ג׳ uncover- ing of nakedness, incest (Lev. XVIII, 6; a. fr.). Yoma 9a; a. fr. -- ראש ג׳ bareheadeddness. Sabb. 118b. -- פנים ג׳ bare- facedness, defiance. Sot. 42b, v. גלית. Erub. 69a וג׳ מומר פנים an apostate and a defiant person, expl. פ׳ ב׳ מומר a defiant apostate; a. e. -- 2) the law forbidding the use of liguids that were left uncovered (as possibly poisoned by serpents).
