נעילה f. (נעל) 1) closing, shutting. Y. Erub. III, 21a ׳ היא קשירה היא tyying a door (the stem קשר) means the same as shutting (the stem נעל). Num. R. s. 14 (play on נעלי, Ps. LX, 10) גרוו בנעילת by tying up his throat (strangulation). -- שערים נעילת the time of closing the lemple gates; (sub. תפפלת) the concluding prayer on the Day of Atonemment, on public fasts and MMa frmadoth (v. מעמד); the prayer called Nailah (נעילה).
