עטי, עטה (b. h.) to wrap up; to cover ones self. Cant. R. to I, 7 וכ׳ בגדו את וע׳ aiid rolled up his cloak and went off Ib. וכ׳ שפמו על עוטה שהוא הזה עאבל like the mourner that wraps himself up to his lir and weeps. Ned. 49b מעיל שעטני ביוך blessed be he who wrapped me in a cloak; a. e.

עטי m. (עטה to press on; cmp. יעץ, ייעט; v. I Sam. XV, 19) urging, instigation. Sabb. 55b בעטיו שמת מי בת נחש של the daughter of him who died (for the sin com- mitted) through the instigation of the serpent, i. e. for no sin of his own; B. Bath. 17a (cmp. Targ. Ruuth IV, 22). Ib. נחש של בעטיו מתו ארבעה four persons died through no sin of their own. -- V. צדטא.

עטינים, עטינין m. pl. (צטן) packed olives, begin- ning to drip. Y. M. Kat.I, beg. 81a בע׳ מתביתן tthe Mishnah (II, 1) speaks of packed olives, opp. גרגרים loose berries.

עטיפה I f. (כטף I) fainting, exhaustion. Midr. Till. to Ps. OII, 1 ed. Bub. (ref. to עטפים, Gen. XXX, 42) אותם תפלה בעטיפת שקנה those he obtained by exhaustion in prayer. Ib. תפלה אלא ע׳ אין, v. עטף I.
עטיפה II f. (עטף) 1)wrapping ones selfup in mourn- ing. M. Kat. 24a וכ׳ כעטיפת שאינה ע׳ כל a covering which is not like the covering of the Ishmaelites (up to the lip) is not a mourner's covering. -- 2) putting on a cloak, אpperr garment. Y.
