צהר (cmp. preced. wds., a. זהר) to be bright, shining. Hif. המהיר to brighten. Lev. R. s. 5 . . . משיר שהוא וכ׳ ומצהיר which removes the hair and makes the body (skin) glistening; v. עדן.
צהר ch. same; trnsf. to be clear, to understand. Kidd. 39a צהרית לא you do not understand (the law) clearly; cmp. חור. Bets. 14b טפי צהיר קלופיה דהוה Ms. M. (ed., v. ציהרא) the peeled surface of the grain was very bright (white, -aan indication that it was pounded immediately before it was cooked).
צהר m. (preced.) glossy, white scurf. Targ. Y. Lev.. XIII, 39 (h. text בהק). -Gitt. 86a AIf., v. טהר.
צהר m. (b. h.; preced.) light; window. Gen. R. s. 31 (ref. to Gen. VI, 16) expl. as window, and as jewel. -- u. צהרים noon-time. צואה f. (צוה) command, order, verbal will. B. Bath. 147a בעלמא בצ׳ by mere expression of his will (without symbolical possession); a. e. - Pl. צואות. Ber. 15b וכתבתם צ׳ אפי׳ . .. and thou shalt write themmm' (Deut. VI, 9, XI, 20) the entire section must be written out (in the T'fflllin), including the orders(thou shalt write', ye shall bind &c.). V, 23) כותב אינו צ׳ אלות the priest writes the curses but not the instructions; Sot. 17a וקבלות צ׳ (not צוואת) the in- structions and the affirmations (by the woman saying Amen).
צואה, צאה f. (b. h.; v. צוי II, cmp. צהנה) filthy matter, exxcresment. Pesik. Dibre, p. 111a (ref. to צא, Is. XXX, 22) לוו תאמר צ׳ call it (the idol) filth; Yalk. Lam. 998; Yalk. Prov. 932 (v. צאה). צואר, ציואר m. (צבר=צור, v. ואר) 1) pile. Ohol. III, 7, v. סואר. - 2) (b. h.) neck, esp. the frontt of the neok, throat, opp. עורף. Hmull. I, 4. Sabb. 58a שבצוארו, v. חותם; a. fr. --Ab. Zar. 30a, a. e. צוארי ועל עלי upon me and my throat, i e. Itake the responsibility. Y. Snh. VI, 23bbbot. דמו עדים בצואר תלוי his blood be suspended from the neck of the witnesses, i. e. they will have to answer for the innocent blood; Bab. ib. 44b עדים בצ׳ תלוי קולו ויהא, v. קולר. Cant. R. to IV, 4 וכ׳ בית זה צוארך 'thy neck' (ib.) means the Temple; פשוט . . . צוארן היה . . . הימים שכל וכ׳ for as long as the Temple stood, Israel's neck was stretched (uplifted) among the nations &c. צוד (b. h.; v. צדה) to lie in wait, hunt, catch. Gen. R. s. 66 (ref. to Gen. XXVII, 80) נפשות לצוד מזויין (not. נפשו) armed to hunt lives (to kill, with ref. to Ex. XXI, 13, a. ISam. XXIV, 12; v.
