VI, 2) אלא צ׳ לא בגנים לרעות לגנו ירד דודי there would have been no need to say any more than 'my beloved went to his garden to feed in the gardens' (leaving out הבשם לערוגות). Y. Succ. V, beg. 55a (ref. to Jon. I, 3) עכו וירד דילא צ׳ לא it ought not to read otherwise than he went down tto Acco' (the nearest harbor to Zarephath, why, then, does it say, he went to Japho?); Yalk. צורן pr. n. pl. Tsoran, a Samaritan place. Y; Dem. II, 22c bot. כקסרין ודאי וצ׳ (not בק׳) and Tsoran, to be sure, is legally like Cesarea.

צורתא, צורא, (צורה) f.=h. צורה. Targ. O. Deut. IV, 16. Targ. Y. Ex. XX, 4 צורה. Targ. O. ib. XXVI, 1. Targ. Ez. XXVIII, 12; a. fr. -- D. XXX, end לדבריהם מצית הקב'ה the Lord listens to their words (ref. to Mal. III, 16). olel צותת (cmp. שמע Hif.) to proclaim. Y. Sot. IX, beg., 23b עליו ומצותת חוזר שתהא לא ימצא כי 'if there be found (Deut. XXI, 1), this intimates, that thou need not go around and issue a proclamation about it (calling upon the people to inform the authorities of any slain body found).
צות, צית ch. same, to listen, obey. Targ. Jer. VI, 10 למישת. Targ. Ps. V, 3צית(imperat.). Targ. Is. LIII, 5וכדנצית וכ׳ ed. Wil. (v. נהי I) and when we listen &c.; a. fr. -- Parr. ציית, צית, צאית. Targ. Prov. XVII, 4. Targ. Ps. CXXX, 2; a. fr. - Keth. 63a ׳ לדידי אי if he heeded my advice. Ab. Zar. 28b וכ׳ ליהודה צ׳ מאן who heeds what Judah the Sabbath-breaker says? Yeb. 89a צ׳ לא . . צ׳ מאני בתרי in the case of two vessels, if you tell him that he must give T'rumah from each, he will obey; in the case of one vessel, if you tell him that he must give T'rumah twice, he will not obey. צות, v. צוות.
צותרא m. (contr. of צערצער=צצער, cmp. זוטר) very little, shrivelled. Lam. R. to I, 5 וכ׳ צ׳ סבא הדין קדם מן (Ar. צייתורא הדין) do you get up before this shrivelled old man ?
צח m. (b. h.; צחח) 1) bright, resplendent. Cant. R. to V, 10 (ref. to ואדום צח ib.) וכ׳ ואדום . . לי צח bright (propitious) to me (Israel) in Egypt, but red (threatening) to the Egyptians; ib. [read;] למצרים ואדום . . . בים לי צח בים; ib. בעוהוז לי ואדום בעויהב לי צח; Yalk. Cant. 988 (corr. acc.). Yalk. Sam. 109 (play on לשח, I Sam. X, 2) צל צח יום bright is the shadow of the day (of Saul); של צל צח וכ׳ ומלכים זקן bright was the shade (declining day) of the patriarch (to whom it was said at Bethel), 'and kings shall proceed from thee (Gen. XXXV, 11); Midr. Sam. ch. XIV הזקן של צלצח (read; וכ׳ צל צח לצח. -- 2) brighhtness. Ib. יום של כצחו צלצח (read; צה צל) a shade bright as the brightness of the (ffull) day.
