Dean Gooderham Acheson (April 11, 1893 – October 12, 1971) was an American statesman and lawyer. He was appointed Under Secretary of the Treasury by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933. During World War II (1941), Acheson served as Assistant Secretary in the Department of State.
