Year of birth[edit]
Year of birth is more than likely 1892 (see w:Cuthbert Wright; don't know how I can change that here. Ni'jluuseger (talk) 23:15, 23 October 2022 (UTC)

- @Ni'jluuseger: The information provided on the passport application AND the WWI draft form is the information of the informant/applicant, so unless they are not telling the truth for the DoB to their government, it will probably be 1893, though we are talking two secondary sources with information provided from the subject. We would need to find a true primary record like birth certificate or somethign that shows clearly alive in 1892 or the early parts of 1893. — billinghurst sDrewth 20:59, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

- Hi all, thanks for the update. Just to summarise: the best primary source I've found, the New York State Birth Index, confirms March 20, 1892. Censuses up to 1905 back this up. The YOB 1899 already cropped up in Wright's lifetime. This lends plausibility to William A. Perry's statement that "Wright often pretended to have been born in 1898 or 1899" (although of course, that being hearsay, I haven't used this particular source for the article). I could go with Wright being confused about 1892/1983, but 1899 is a clear fabrication that may well have originated with Wright himself. Ni'jluuseger (talk) 11:02, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
