The Borough of Weymouth and Portland (Electoral Changes)
(Amendment) Order 2003

Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2)
The Electoral Commission[1], in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 17[2] and 26[3] of the Local Government Act 1992, hereby make the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Borough of Weymouth and Portland (Electoral Changes) (Amendment) Order 2003.
(2) This Order shall come into force on the day after that on which it is made.
Amendment to the 2002 Order
2.—(1) The Borough of Weymouth and Portland (Electoral Changes) Order 2002[4] shall be amended as follows.
(2) In article 6(4) the words “to 10th May 2004” shall be substituted for the words “to 5th May 2003”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order amends the article in the Borough of Weymouth and Portland (Electoral Changes) Order 2002 that makes provision for any casual vacancies for parish councillors that might occur in the parish of Portland before 10th May 2004.
- ↑ The Electoral Commission was established by the Political Parties, Electors and Referendums Act 2002 (c. 41). The functions of the Secretary of State, under sections 13 to 15 and 17 of the Local Government Act 1992 (c. 19), so far as they relate to electoral changes within the meaning of that Act, were transferred with modifications to the Electoral Commission by the Local Government for England (Transfer of Functions) Order 2001 (S.I. 2001/3962).
