2019 CHAPTER 10
An Act to amend the Children Act 1989 to provide that certain proceedings under Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 are family proceedings. [15th March 2019]
Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1Amendment to the Children Act 1989
(1) The Children Act 1989 is amended as follows.
(2) In section 8 (child arrangements orders and other orders with respect to children), after subsection (4)(i) insert—
- “(j) Part 1 of Schedule 2 to the Female Genital Mutilation Act 2003 (other than paragraph 3 of that Schedule).”
2Extent, commencement and short title
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales only.
(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it is passed.
(3) This Act may be cited as the Children Act 1989 (Amendment) (Female Genital Mutilation) Act 2019.
