Preliminary Provisions




Name of the Code
1. This Code shall be cited as the "Civil and Commercial Code".

Effective date of the Code
2. The same shall take effect on the 1st date of January, BE 2468 (1925).[1]

Abrogation of inconsistent laws
3. As of the effective date of this Code, all other laws, bylaws and ordinances insofar as they deal with matters prescribed herein or are inconsistent herewith shall be abrogated.


  1. Section 2 is amended by the Royal Decree Promulgating Book 3 and Prolongating the Coming into Force of Book 1 and Book 2 of the Civil and Commercial Code.
