ECEBO'LIUS (Ἑκηβόλιος), a sophist of Constantinople, who in the reign of Constantine the Great pretended to be a Christian, but afterwards, in the time of the emperor Julian, conducted himself as a zealous pagan. (Suid. s. v.; Socrat. H. E. iii. 13.) [L. S.]
