Azure, a cross flory between five marlets or (attributed arms of Edward the Confessor, King of England) impaling arms of Plantagenet with a label of three points argent for difference (for Thomas of Brotherton, 1st Earl of Norfolk). Arms granted to Thomas de Mowbray, 1st Duke of Norfolk (1366-1399) by King Richard II, who had himself adopted in his own arms a similar impalement by the attributed arms of Edward the Confessor, with whom he had a "mystical union".
