A mistake in the original, I think. :

Body and mind are, in fact, so intimately connected, that it is futile, attempting to embellish the one, while neglecting the other, especially as the highest order of all beauty is the intellectual. Let those females, therefore, who are the most 248 (p. "224")

flows onto

solicitous about their beauty, and the most eager to produce a favourable impression, cultivate the moral, religious, and intellectual attributes, and in this advice consists the recipe for the finest cosmetic in the world, viz.—content. 249 (p. "235")

The 1983 facsimile reprint I scanned the Gutenberg copy from had the exact same page numbering error, and the modern introduction made the case for Judith Montefiore's authorship, though I unfortunately don't have a copy of the copyrighted contents of that volume to refer to.--Prosfilaes (talk) 02:31, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
