Chapter 3[edit]

1: And being grieved I wept and prayed with sorrow saying,
2: Just you are Lord and all the works of your and all the ways of you are mercy and truth and judgment truly and justly you judge into the ages.
3: Remember me and look upon me not me you should punish the sins of me and the ignorances of me and the fathers of me which sinned before you:
4: For they transgressed the commandments of you: [Thus] you gave us for a spoil, and to captivity and to death and a proverb of reproach to all the nations en whom we are dispersed.
5: And now many [are] the judgments of you are [and] true: with me deal according to the sins of me and the fathers of me because not we kept the laws of you For not we have walked in truth before you.
6: And now as [seems] best before you deal with me. Command to take the spirit of me in order that I might dissolve, and I become earth because it is more profitable for me to die than to live because of the reproaches false, I heard and pain there is much in me. Command to release me the distress, already into the everlasting place: do not turn the face of you from me.
7: In the same day came to be the daughter Raguel Sara in Ecbatane the [city of] Media and she reproached by the maids of the father of her.
8: Because she had been given to husbands seven and Asmodues the evil demon killed them before to be married them with her as in a wife. And they said to her not you have strangled your husbands, already seven you have and one of them not you were named after.
9: Why us you beat if they died, go with them let not us see your son or daughter into the age.
10: These things having heard she was grieved exceedingly so as to strangle herself. And she said I am of the father me. If I do this a reproach it is and the old age of him I will bring down with pain to Hades.
11: And she prayed to the window and said blessed are you lord the God of me and blessed the name of you [and] holy and honorable into the ages. Bless You all the works of you into the ages.
12: And now Lord the eyes of me and the face of me toward you I have given.
13: Say, take me from the earth, and not may hear me no longer the reproach.
14: You know lord that clean I am from all sins of men.
15: And not I polluted the name of me nor the name of the father of me in the land of the captivity of me. Only begotten I am from the father of me and not there is for him a child which will inherit for him nor a brother near nor exists for him a son so that I will keep myself for him as wife already they are dead to me seven [husbands] so why I should live and if not it please you to die me command to look upon me and to pity me and no longer hear I reproach.
16: And were heard the prayer of both before the glory of the majesty of Raphel.
17: And he was sent to heal the two Tobit to scale away the whiteness [of his eyes] and Sara of Raguel to give Tobias the son of Tobit as wife, and to bind Asmodeus the evil demon because of Tobias it was given to inherit it with her. At the right time returned Tobit [and] he entered into the house of him and Sara of Raguel came down from the upper chamber of her.

Chapter 4[edit]

1: In day that remembered Tobit about the money which he gave to Gabael in Rages of Media,
2: And he said in himself, I asked for death. Why not I call for Tobias the son of me so that for him I might show before to die me?
3: And having called him, he said, My son, if I die bury me and not despise the mother of you, honor her all the days of the life of you and do pleasing things for her and not you grieve her.
4: Remember my son that many dangers she saw for you in the womb when she is dead, bury her by me in one grave.
5: All the days my son, of the Lord the God of us be mindful and not desire to sin nor to transgress the commandments of Him. Uprightly do all the days of the life of you and not go the ways of the unrighteousness.
6: Because if deal you truly prosperous success they will be in the works of you.
7: And from all your doing righteous from the goods of you, give alms and do not let be envious your eye in dealings of you when giving alms. Do not turn away the face of you from any poor person and from you no not will be turned the face of God.
8: If you have an abundance give out of them alms. If a little you have according to that little not afraid to give alms.
9: For a treasure good you store up for yourself in the day of necessity.
10: Because alms from death deliver and not allows to enter into the darkness.
11: For a gift good is alms to all those giving it in the presence of the most High.
12: Take heed to yourself my son from all fornication and women. Foremost take from the seed of the fathers of you not you should take a wife from another which not is from the nation of the fathers of you because the children of the prophets we are Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob: the fathers of us from the ages. Remember my son that those fathers took wifes from the brothers of them and they were blessed in the children of them and the seed of them will inherit the earth.
13: And now my son love the brothers of you and not despise in the heart of you the brothers of you and the sons and daughters of the people of you, to take to yourself from them: a wife because in the pride is destruction and trouble, much and in the lewdness is decay and lack: great for lewdness mother is of famine.
14: The wages of any man which he has wrought for you not let him wait but give him immediately and if you serve God he will repay you. Take heed to yourself my son in all the works of you and be wise in all conduct of you.
15: And that which you hate not you should do. Wine for drunkeness not you should drink and not let go with you drunkenness in the journey of you.
16: From the bread of you give to the hungry and from the clothes of you to the naked; all from the abundance of you give alms: and not let envy your eye when to give you alms.
17: Pour out the bread of you on the burial of the just, and nothing give to the sinners.
18: Advise from all that are wise seek and not despise any counsel [that is] profitable.
19: And in every season bless the Lord God and from him ask so that the ways of you straight be and all [your] paths and counsels may prosper for every nation not has counsel; but himself the Lord gives all good things and whom if he desires he humbles as he wills and now my child remember the commandments of me and not put them out of the heart of you.
20: And now I signify to you the ten talents of silver which committed to Gabael the son of Gabrias in Rages of Media.
21: And not be afraid my son because we are poor there is to you much if you fear God and keep away from all sin and you do the things [that are] pleasing before Him.

Chapter 5[edit]

1: And answering Tobias said to him, father I will do everythinig so much you have commanded me:
2: But how I will be able to take the silver and not I know him?
3: And he gave him the handwriting, and said to him Seek yourself a man who will go with you and I will give him. wages while I live and take [and] go the silver.
4: And he went to look for a man and he found Raphael who was an angel and not he knew.
5: And he said to him, if I can go with you to Rages of Media and if acquainted you are with the place?
6: And he said to him, the angel I will go with you and the way I am acquainted with and with Gabael the brother of you I have lodged.
7: And said to him, Tobias tarry [with] me and I will tell the father of me.
8: And he said to him, go and not delay.
9: And having entered he said to his father, Behold I found someone who will travel with me and he said I will call him to me in order you might know what sort of tribe his is from and if trustworthy to go with you.
10: And called him and he entered and they greeted each other.
11: And he said to him, Tobit, Brother from which tribe and from which family you are? Show me.
12: And he told him The tribe and the family you seek or wages which I will go with the son of you and he said to him, Tobit, I wish brother to know the family of you and the name.
13: And he said I am Azarious of Ananias the great of the brothers of you.
14: And he said to him, You are welcome brother, and not with me be angry because I sought the tribe of you, and the father of you to know and you. You are a brother of me from a good and noble linage. For I knew Ananias and Jonathas, the sons of Samaias, the great since we went together into Jerusalem to worship and to offer the firstborn and the tenths of the fruits; and not they were seduced with the error of the brothers of us. From a root good you are brother.
15: But tell me, what for you I will wages give? A drachma per day and the things necessary for you as also for the son of me.
16: And I will add to you onto your wages if safely you return.
17: And they were well-pleased thus and he said to Tobias, Ready be for the journey, and have a good journey and was ready the son of him the things for the journey, and he said to him the father of him go with the man and the one in the heaven dwelling, God will prosper the journey of you and the angel of Him let him go with you and they went off together to leave and the dog of the child with them.
18: And wept Anna the mother of him and said to Tobit, Why you sent away the son of us which not the staff of the hand of us is in going out and coming before us?
19: Silver upon silver not to be greedy but refuse of the child of us let it be.
20: For as it was given to us to live from the Lord this enough for us to be.
21: And said to her Tobit, not a word take care sister safely he will go and the eyes of you will see him.
22: For the angel good goes with him, and will be prosperous the journey of him and he will return in good health.
23: And she ceased weeping.

Chapter 6[edit]

1: And going on their way came evening to Tigris the river and they lodged there.
2: And the young man went down to wash himself and leapt up a fish from the river, and it intended to consume the young man.
3: But the angel said to him, Take the fish and grabbed the fish the young man and drew up it up to the land.
4: And said to him the angel cut open the fish and take the heart and the liver and the gall put them up securely.

6: And went both until they drew near to Ecbatane.
7: And said the young man to the angel Azarias, Brother what is the liver and the heart and the gall of the fish [for]?
8: And he said to him, the heart and the liver if any should trouble demon the spirit evil this is necessary to make smoke before the man or the woman and no longer he will be vexed.
9: And the gall [is for] anointing a man who has whiteness in his eyes and he will be healed.
10: And they drew near to Rages.
11: Said the angel to the young man, brother, today we will lodge with Raguel, and he cousin of you is and is to him a daughter only one named Sara;
12: I will speak about her that given to you she as a wife so that for you is given the inheritance of her and you alone are from the kindred of her and the maiden good and wise is.
13: And now hear me and I will speak to the father of her and when when we return from Rages we will celebrate the wedding because I know Raguel since no not he shall give her to a man other according to the law of Moses or he will be fit to die because the inheritance to you belongs to receive rather than any other man.
14: Then said the young man to the angel Azarias, Brother I have heard the the maid has been given to seven men and all in the bridal chamber perished.
15: And now I only am of my father and I fear not entering I will die just as also the former ones because a demon loves her which not hurts anyone except those coming to her and now I am afraid lest I die and I bring down the life of the father of me and the mother of me with pain over me into the grave of them and a son other not there is to them which will bury them.
16: And said to him the angel not you remember the word which commanded you the father of you, concerning taking for you a wife from the family of you and now hear me, brother because to you will be a wife and the demon not one word hold because night this will be given to you her for a wife.
17: And if you should enter into the Bridal-chamber you shall take ashes of incense and you shall place [them] upon the heart and the liver of the fish and you shall make smoke and will smell it the demon and he will flee and not he will return into the ages of agoes.
18: And when you go to her rise up both of you and pray for the mercy of God and he will save you and have pity. Do not fear because to you she prepared was from the beginning and you her will save wand will go with you and she will conceive because to you is from her a child.
19: And as heard Tobias these things he loved her and the soul of him was joined to her very much.

1: And finished praising [God] Tobit.
2: And he was years fifty eight when he lost his sight and after years eight he regained it and he did alms-giving and he increased in fear of the Lord God, and he praised him.
3: And being greatly aged and he called his son, and his sons and said to him, Son, take your sons, behold I am old and about to depart from life I am.
4: Go to Media my son because I believed those things spoken by Jonah the prophet concerning Nineveh that it will be overthrown in also Media there will be peace more until the time that our brothers on the earth will be scattered from the good earth and Jerusalem will be deserted and the house of God in it will be burnt and desolate it will be for a time.
5: And again will have mercy on them God, and he will turn them to the earth and they will build the house not like the first until is fulfilled the time of the age and after those things they will return from their captivity and they will build Jerusalem in glory and the house of God in it will be built into all the generations of ages with a building glorious as said concerning it the prophets.

8: And now my son, depart from Nineveh because of all will happen which spoke the prophet Jonah.

10: Behold my son what did Amon to Achiacharus bringing up him as from the light he led him into darkness and how he rewarded him and Achiacharus was saved. But to the other his reward he gave up and he went down into the darkness of Manassah to do alms and he was saved from snare of death which was fastened to him. But Aman fell into the trap and he perished.
