Originally titled Mary's Lamb: English language nursery rhyme of nineteenth-century American origin. It has a Roud Folk Song Index number of 7622. It may have been inspired by a true incident. The first four lines are sometimes attributed to John Roulstone. It was set to music in the 1830s by Lowell Mason.
