Romilly, Charles, clerk to the Crown in chancery 185‒–1880, principal secretary to Earl of Cottenham (lord chancellor) 1846–50, a student of the Inner Temple 19 June, 1827, called to the bar 29 Jan., 1836 (5th son of late Sir Samuel Romilly, solicitor-general, dec.); born ⁠, 1808; married 13 Jan., 1842, Lady Georgiana Elizabeth Russell, eldest dau. of John, 6th duke of Bedford; she died 22 March, 1867, leaving issue (see Foster's Peerage).
