Sir Edward James Foote

NAVAL OFFICER,

Was the son of the Rev. Francis H. Foote, Rector of Bishopsbourne, where he was born 1797. Entering the navy early in life, he served under Nelson, having the command of the Niger frigate at St. Vincent, and of the Seahorse at the blockade of the Bay of Naples. He was made rear-admiral in 1812, and vice-admiral in 1821. He died in 1833.
