[edit]Sec. 141. Body armor procurement.
[edit]- (a) Procurement.—The Secretary of Defense shall ensure that body armor is procured using funds authorized to be appropriated by this title.
- (b) Procurement Line Item.—In the budget materials submitted to the President by the Secretary of Defense in connection with the submission to Congress, pursuant to section 1105 of title 31, United States Code, of the budget for fiscal year 2011, and each subsequent fiscal year, the Secretary shall ensure that within each military department procurement account, a separate, dedicated procurement line item is designated for body armor.
Sec. 142. Unmanned cargo-carrying-capable aerial vehicles.
[edit]- None of the amounts authorized to be appropriated for procurement may be obligated or expended for an unmanned cargo-carrying-capable aerial vehicle until a period of 15 days has elapsed after the date on which the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics certify to the congressional defense committees that the Joint Requirements Oversight Council has approved a joint and common requirement for an unmanned cargo-carrying-capable aerial vehicle type.
Sec. 143. Modification of nature of data link for use by tactical unmanned aerial vehicles.
[edit]- Section 141 (a)(1) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006 (Public Law 109-163, 119 Stat. 3164) is amended by striking, ", until such time as the Tactical Common Data Link standard is replaced by an updated standard for use by those vehicles" and inserting "or a data link that uses waveform capable of transmitting and receiving Internet Protocol communications."
