WOODWARD, Agnes, (Miss), a native of Waterloo, New York, former resident of Detroit, Michigan, living in California for the last 25 years. Director, California School of Artistic Whistling. Originator of “Woodward Method of Bird Whistling”; conductor, “America's Bird Whistling Chorus”; only woman whistler to hold gold medal for excellency in whistling art. Author: “Whistling as an Art.” Coaches vaudeville acts, concert and Chautauqua programs. Member: Soroptimist Club, Artland Club, Chamber of Commerce, International Lyceum and Chautauqua Ass'n., California Anti-Vivisection Society (life member). WORKMAN, Frances Widney, (Mrs. Boyle), born in Los Angeles, Calif., daughter of Judge and Mrs. R. M. Widney. Married to Boyle Workman. Children: Eleanor Workman Scarborough, Andree Workman Jeffras. Founder of California Hut (Workshop for Disabled Veterans.) Active in all club and civic affairs. For ten years president L. A. branch Needlework Guild of America, an organization which, even during the war, at the request of the, U. S. Gov't., maintained its independence of all other organizations. The California Hut, organized under the State Laws of Calif., has been equipped with modern machinery, and has well-trained teachers. It gives the Disabled War Veterans an opportunity to earn their own living, without being compelled to work eight hours a day. City authorities and civic bodies have endorsed the institution. WRIGHT, Janetta Bray (Mrs. H. T.) a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of Thomas J. and Jacova Ann Bray, a resident of California for over twenty years. Married to Henry T. Wright. Children: Mrs. E. L. Spearman, Mrs. John R. Bartholomen, Mrs. George A. Lowry. Active in civic and club affairs. Past pesident, Women's Club of Hollywood; past regent, Hollywood Chapter, D. A. R. Charter member, Pittsburgh Playground Ass'n.; organizer and chairman of Children's Lodge Day Nursery. President Marion Davies Foundation Clinic; for two years Vice-president and Parliamentarian, L. A. District, P. T. A. Has held other offices in various organizations. Member: L. A. YAW, Ellen Beach, (Mrs. Franklin Cannon), born in Boston, Erie County, New York, daughter of Ambrose Spencer and Mary Jane Beach Yaw. Married to Franklin Cannon. Opera singer. Studied singing here and abroad; has toured Europe at various times. Debut, Metropolitan Opera House, New York City, 1910, in Lucia. Repertoire leading soprano roles in Romeo and Juliet, Puritani, Rigoletto, Magic Flute, Faust, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, etc. Home: Covina, California.

YOAKUM, Wilhelmine Wissman (Mrs. F. E.), born 1891 in New Jersey, daughter of Herman and Katherine Kohler Wissman, a former resident of New York, living in California for the last fifteen years. Married to Finis Ewing Yoakum. Children: Fanita Ewing, Katherine Ann, Franklin L. Treasurer, State League of Women Voters. Secretary, Oakland Forum. Holds offices in other organizations. ZARUBA, Emma Loeffler de, Mme., a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Loeffler, former resident of New York City and Europe, living in California for 8 years. Married to Charles de Zaruba. Children: Lionel de Zaruba. Voice pedagogue. Former prima donna with the Manhattan Opera Company of New York and The Royal Carl Rosa Opera, of London, also soloist with orchestras, such as Weingartner, Colonne and Kursaal at Ostende. Has studied under famous European masters. Considered an authority on voice, opera and traditions; lectures before schools, churches and clubs. In 1925, general chairman of Hollywood bowl campaign. At one time head of Voice Department, New York College of Music. Former president of the L. A. Music School Settlement. Member: Pleiades Club (president).
