Higgledy piggledy, my black hen,
She lays eggs for gentlemen;
Sometimes nine, and sometimes ten,
Higgledy piggledy, my black hen!




The cock doth crow
To let you know,
If you be wise,
'T is time to rise.




Little Tom Twig bought a fine bow and arrow,
And what did he shoot? why, a poor little sparrow.
Oh, fie, little Tom! with your fine bow and arrow,
How cruel to shoot at a poor little sparrow!




Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop;
So I cried, "Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?"
And was going to the window
To say, "How do you do?"
But he shook his little tail,
And far away he flew.
