מערכים m. pl., constr. מערכי (b. h.; ערך) arrange- ments, ordinances, esp. מלחמה (כהן) מ׳ the regulations concerning exxcuses fropmt the army to be proclaismed before battle (Deut. XX, 5-9). Tosef. Sot. VII, 18 on arriving at the frontier he says, מלחמה כהן מ׳ לשמוע ילך ששומע מי let him who hears (this) go to hear the proclamation of the priest of war (v. משוח); אומר מהו מלחמה במ׳ what is said in the proclamation betore the battle ?
