  1. The length of the Greek ſtadium, expreſſed as here laid down in Engliſh feet, is correct according to the numbers given by Mr. Greaves, who has employed only two places of decimal figures. If we extend theſe to ſix figures, (and it may be done indefinitely,) the proportion will be as below ſtated.

    34: 25:: 967: 1007.291666
    Again, 1007.491666 x 12 ÷ 1000 =12.087509992
    Again, 12087509992 x 600 = 72525059952
    Again, 7252.25059952 ÷ 12 = 604.3754933

    which differs from the calculation uſed in the Tables leſſ than .018 decimals of an inch, or conſiderably leſſ than 1/50 part of an inch in the extent of a ſtadium.
