instituted 10th March 1566-7[1]; and in September 1584 was made bishop of Bath and Wells[2].

Richard Rogers, S.T.P., suffragan bishop of Dover, was instituted 6th Sept. 1584. He died 19th May 1597, ætat. 64, and was buried in the cathedral.

Thomas Nevil, S.T.P., dean of Peterborough, was instituted 28th June 1597. He died 2nd May 1615, and was buried in the cathedral[3].

Charles Fotherby, S.T.P., archdeacon of Canterbury, was instituted 12th May 1615[4]. He died 29th March 1619, ætat. 70, and was buried in the cathedral[5].

John Boys, S.T.P.,was admitted 3rd May 1619[6]. He died on the 26th, and was buried 30th Sept. 1625 in the cathedral near his predecessor.

Isaac Bargrave, S.T.P., was nominated by letters patent dated 11th Oct., and admitted 16th Oct. 1625[7]. He was buried near his predecessor 25th Jan. 1642-3, ætat. 56[8].

George Aglionby, S.T.P., was constituted by the King 6th May 1643, but by reason of the confusion of those times was never installed. He died in the year following, and was buried in Christ Church, Oxford.

Thomas Turner, S.T.P., dean of Oxford, was constituted by the King 3rd Jan. 1643-4, but from the like cause did not enter on possession till 10th Aug. 1660. He died 8th Oct. 1672, ætat. 81, and was buried in the cathedral.

John Tillotson, S.T.P., was admitted 4th Nov. 1672[9]; and 19th Nov. 1689 was removed to the deanery of St.Paul's, London[10].

John Sharp, S.T.P., was nominated 23rd Sept. 1689[11], and admitted 21st Nov. following[12]; and in 1691 was consecrated archbishop of York[13].
