He died 13th May 1601. and Was buried in the cathedral.

John Howson, A.M., was admitted 1 5th May 1601 ; and gth May 1619 he was consecrated bishop of this see.

Samuel Fell, S.T.B., was installed 9th May 1619, tho same day that his predecessor was consecrated bi- shop ; and in 1638 he became dean of this church.

William Strode, S.T.P., was admitted ist duly 1638. He died 10th March 1044, and was buried in tho Divinity chapel belonging to this cathedral 9 .

Henri Hammond, S.T.P., archdeacon of Chichester, succeeded about 17th March r>44~5. Some few years after (1647 8) '"' wafl ejected by the Parliamentary visitors. He died at Westwood in Worcestershire 25th April \ii Gal. Maii) i6'>o, eetat. 55, and was buried the next day in the chancel of Hampton church near \\Y>tw 1.

Edward Cor Bi 1 . A.M.. on* of the nsiton, was appointed 20th Jan. [6478 on the deprivation of Hammond;

but he soon resigned the -tall, and Rum Button, A.M., was put in by the same author- ity that eject' d his predecessor Hammond, 4th Aug. 164S; but soon after the Restoration he was obliged

to leave it. John Fki i ., A.M.. was substituted in Button's place

27th July 1660; and in the latter end of the same

year he was made dean of this church. Sebastian Smith, S.T.P.. was installed 22nd June

1661. Ob. 27th April 1674, a?tat. 70. Samii.i. S11 in, A.M., instituted 2nd May 1674, vice

Smith. Ob. 22nd Jan. 1681-2, and was buried at

Godalming. Henry Aldrich, S.T.P.,was installed i3thFeb.i68i-2.

He became dean here in 1689. William Wake, A.M., instituted 4th April 1689, vice
