elected 23rd June 1559. Ho died 8th Aug. 1560, and was buried in the choir of this cathedral.

Alkx.wdi. u Now 1 11, S.T.I*. , a rchdt "con of Middlesex and prebendary of TotenAale, was elected 17th Nov. 1560. lie died 13th Feb. 1601-2, and was buried in the chapel of the Virgin Mary in St. Paul's ca- thedral.

John Overall, S.T.P., prebendary <>f Totenhale, was elected 29th May 1602, and in 1614 was made bishop of Coventry and Lichfield.

V mi ntine Cabey, S.T.P., prebendary of Chistuici, was elected 8th April 1614, and in 1621 was made bishop of Exeter.

John Donne, S.T.P., was elected 27th Nov. 1621. He died 31st March 1631, retat. 59, and was buried in the south aisle of St. Paul's. His will is in the Pre- rogative Office of Canterbury ".

Thomas Winniffi . dean 0/ '( Gloucester and prebendary of Mora, was elected to this deanery 18th April 163 1, and in 1642 was made bishop of Lincoln.

Richard Steward, LL.D., was nominated, or at least designed for this deanery after WinniflVs promotion ; but he was never elected.

Mattukw Nicholas, LL.D., dean of Bristol and pre- bendary of Cadington Major, had a grant of this deanery from king Charles the First; but it did not take effect until after the restoration ; and then he obtained a confirmation of that grant from king Charles the Se- cond, and 10th July 1660 was duly elected, and in- stalled on the same day. He died 14th Aug. 1661, and was buried at Winterbourn-Erles in "Wiltshire.

Johx Barwick, S.T.P., dean of Durham and prebendary of Oxr/ate, was elected to this deanery 16th Oct. 1661, and installed on the 19th of the same month. He died in 1664, and was buried in St. Paul's cathedral. His will is in the Prerogative Office of Canterbury 31 .
