King, James William, portrait painter, artist, was born Feb. 8, 1832, in Rochester, N.Y. He was known as one of tlie most talented artists of the south. His pictures have become celebrated; and his portrait of (Jeneral Lee alone would have made his reputation. It was exhibited at the Cotton exhibition at Atlanta, (Ja. The picture of General Lee is noticeable for the strength and purity of color; and the careful work of its detail. He died Oct. I.'i, 1877.
