LEE, Mrs. Harrison, (Bessie) Temper- ance evangelist; 6. at Daylesford, Victoria, June 10, I860, d. of Henry Vickery, of Ilfracombe, Devon. She has been engaged in temperance lecturing and organisation since 1888. In 1890 the was appointed Lec- turer to the Victorian Allisnoe, and subsequently World's mimionsry in connec- tion with the Women's Christian Tem- perance Union. Toured the whole of Aus- tralia, taken part in three New Zealand polls for no-licence holding on an average sixty meetings a month, has worked with leaders of reform in Greet Britain, and recently travelled the world on a temper- ance crusade. Australasian delegate to the World's W.G.T.U. Convention st Genera, in 1908. Appointed in Januarj 1900 to float the Australasian National Temperance League. Author of "One of Australia's Daughters,** "One of God's Lamplighters," and other publications and numerous tracts and papers, st. 1880 Harrison Lee. Ad- dreat— Temperance Hall, Melbourne.

Has acted as Classical Examiner for the Univer- sities of Adelaide and New Zealand, and as chief examiner for the Tasmanian Council of Education. Author of a Translation of Juve- nal in Macmillan's Classical Library (second edition), and oontrflNSted to some of the,leed- ing classical Journals.
