This island was once famous in ancient times of bloody altars with sacrificed people with opened breasts, chopped off arms, legs, etc.; also for numerous wrecks of many vessels. It was once occupied by the English as relic-hunters, such as earthenware, until 1568, when Gen. Almarze arrived from Spain and drove "Johnny Bull" from the island.
