That out of every twenty Bufliels fo cliarged upon the Floor, there fliall be an Allowance made to the Maker of the faid Malt of four Bufhels, and oit of eery greater or Jeffer Quantity a proportionable Allowance fhall be made in Confideration of the difrerence between the Quantity of fuch Corn when it is making upon the Floor, and the Qiiantity thereof when it is dried and perfeftly made into Malt; any Thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wife notv.'ith- Itanding. And whereas by an Aft made in the firft Year of his prefcnt Majefty and the late Queen, intituled, An Exfari.-n cf Act for Encouragement of the Exportation of Corn; It is' hereby enafted. That when Malt or Barley is at Mah to ncii-j! twenty-four Shillings /i(;r Qiiarter or under, every Merciiant that (hall put on board any Pvlalt, according 'h^ B^jua-, ^a:» to or under the Limitations or Conditions In the fiiid K8t. exprefTed, the faid Merchant fhall have and re- ^ ^ ' '^ €eive from the Farmers, Commiffioners or Collciftors of the Duties arifing from the Culloms, for every Qiiarter of Malt or Barley fo exportejl, the Sum of two Shillings and fix Pence; Be It hereby enafted,- That the Duty of fix Y&nz<tpcr Bufhel by this Aft impofed upon Malt, fhall not be reckoned or valued towards the Price of twenty-four Shillings per Qiiarter, by the laid recited Aft limited, but that the Ex- porter of Malt fhall have and receive the Bounty granted by the faid recited Aft, unlefs when the Price of Malt exceeds twenty-four Shillings ^^r Quarter, over and above the Duty of fix Pence ^^r Bufhef by this Aft granted. Provided always, and be it further enafted and declared by the Authority aforefaid. That in cafe any AlUnuams- o^^ Peribn or Perfons whatfoever lliall export any ground Malt from any Port or Place in England or JFala, Dratubada,. or the Town of Bertvick upon Tweed, to any foreign Parts ( ^ra^/i?;/^ excepted ) the Duties whereof fliall have been paid or fecured to be paid according to this Aft, fuch Perfon and Perfons fhal! have the like Drawback or Allowance out of the Duties on Malt by this Aft granted, as,, if the faid Malt had been whole, upon Debentures to be obtained, and upon producing Certihcates, making Oath, and doing and' performing the other Matters and Things herein before prelcribed and direfted, in order to obtain De- bentures upon Exportation of Malt for foreign Parts ; yet neverthelefs fuch ground Malt fo exported fhall. be computed and eftimated after the Rate of fo many Buftiels of Malt as the fame did contain before it was ground, and no more. Provided always, and be It further enafted. That every Gauger or other Officer, who fliall be conftitu- Gaugerto Ham: ted or appointed to put this Aft in Execution, fhall be, and are hereby required' to leave a true Copy of Copy of Gauge,- each Gauge, and the Quantity thereof. In Writing under his or their Hands, with or for the faid Maker or Makers of Malt at the Time of taking iiich Gauge upon Demand, under the Penalty of forty Shillings. And' for the Prevention of Evil Praftlces In brewing Beer and Ale, with Sugar, Honey, foreign Grains, Pi„alf) ifufii-.g Guinea Pepper,, or with a late invented Liquor or Syrup made from Malt and Water, boiled up to the umi-bolfmie Ma- Gohfiftency of Melaffes, and very much refembling the fame,' and commonly called Effcntia Bine, or with tmahjn bi-eta- other unwholfome Materials; and that no Mixture of Sugar, Honey, foreign Grains, Guinea Pepper, or "'■gi^<^-- of the faid Liquor or Syrup, or other unwholfome Materials, may be ufed In the brewing or making of Beer and Ale ; Be it enacted. That from and after the faid tenth Day of April no common Brewer, Inn- keeper, Viftualler, or other Retailer of Beer and Ale, fhalF make ufe of any Sugar, Honey, foreign: Grains, Guinea Pepper, or ot the faid Liquor or Syrup, called EJj'entia Bine, Coculus India: or any un- wholfome Materials or Ingredients whatfoev^er, in the brev/Ing or making of any Beer or Ale, or mix any Sugar, Honey, foreign Grains, Gumea Pepper, or any of the faid Liquor called Ejfentla Bine, Coculus Indlis,. or any unv/holfome Materials or Ingredients whatfoever, with any Beer or Ale in Calk, after the fame is cleanfed, upon Pain of forfeiting twenty Pounds for every fuch Offence.
