Term for ninety-nine Years, upon and for the Confederations therein expreffed : And whereas fome of '. the Nominees for whofe Lives fome of the faid Annuities are held, are Foreigners, or live in foreign or ' remote Parts of this Kingdom, fo as that they cannot be found or heard of; and that the Parties that are ' or were entitled to fuch Annuities do not come or fend to demand the faid Annuities, whereby it is be- 4 come uncertain whether fuch Nominees be living or dead, or were fo at the Time of purchafing fuch Re-

  • verfions, whereby the Titles of the Purchafers of fuch Reversions are become, and will become difputable :'

For Remedy whereof, Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That in cafe any of the faid Annuity or Annuities (whereupon the Reverlion or Reverfions were or fhall be purchafed, as aforefaid) have not, or fhall not be demanded at the Exchequer for the Space of two Years next after the fame did become, or fhali become payable; and in cafe Certificates of the Life and Lives of any Nominee or Nominees, upon whofe Life or Lives any Annuities do depend, have not been, or fhall not be produced to the Officers of his Majefty's Exchequer, or fufficient Proof made thereof, according to the Rules prefcribed by former Acts, within two Years next after the faid Annuities have or fhall from Time to Time become payable; then and from" thenceforth, and from and after the Expiration of the faid two Years, fuch Nominee and Nominees, of whofe Life or Lives no fuch Certificate hath been or fhall be produ- ced, or Proof made, as aforefaid, fhall be taken to be dead, and the Perfon or Perfons that hath purchafed, or fhall hereafter purchafe fuch Reverfion or Reverfions of fuch Annuity or Annuities, expectant upon the Death of fuch Nominee or Nominees, of whofe Life or Lives no fuch Certificate hath or fhall be produced, or Proof made, as aforefaid, fhall receive the faid refp:ctive Annuity and Annuities, from Time to Time, until fuch Certificates fhall be produced, or Proof made, and fhall not be accountable for fuch Part of the faid Annuity as he fhall then have actually received for default of fuch Certificate or Proof; any Thing in this, or in any former Act or Ats of Parliament contained to the contrary notwithftanding. And for the more effectual preventing Frauds relating to the Duty laid upon printing, paint- 17 1 6. before e. j n g^ or fining Paper to fervc for Hangings or ether Ufes :' Be it further enacted by the Authority afore - Offiar teTtake ' &W, That from and after the firft Day of June one thoufand feven hundred and fixteen, before any fuch .Account of the Paper fhali be printed, painted or ftained, the Officers for the faid Duties on fuch printed, painted or Quantities and ftained Paper, as aforefaid, fhall be permitted to take Accounts of the Quantities and Dimensions of all Bimenhons, and p a p er f or printing, painting or flaming, which at any Time or Times fhall be in the Cuftody or Poflef- e lam< " fion of any fuch Printer, Painter or Stainer, and upon taking fuch Account thereof, fhall mark or ftamp 10 Ann. c. 19. every Sheet and Piece thereof with a Stamp or Seal already provided, or hereafter to be provided, in pur- fuance of the Act for granting of the faid Duties for the marking or ftamping of Silks, Callicoes, Linens or Stuffs, printed, painted, ftained or died, thereby to denote that fuch Account has been taken of fuch Sjch Paper mif- Paper;, and in cafe any Officer cr Officers fhall mifs any Quantity or Quantities of fuch Paper whereof he ftng, Officer to h a d before taken fuch Accounts, and fhall not upon reasonable Demand receive Satisfaction what is become c .i.irge i; wuh f the .f arn e,. then and in fuch Cafe it fhall aftd maybe lawful for fuch Officer to charge fuch Printer, Painter or Stainer of Paper, with the Duties of fuch Paper fo miffing, as if the fame were actually printed, painted or ftained. ?aper removed XVIII. And he it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That no Perfon or Perfons, who fhall fee/ore ftamping, print, paint, ftain or dye any Paper chargeable with the faid Duty, fhall remove, carry or fend away, or fuffer to be removed, carried or fent away, any Paper by him, her or them printed, painted or ftained jelpectively, until fuch Time as the proper Officer fhall have taken an Account of every particular Quan- tity
