And be it snacled, That every Receiver General of any the Revenues, Aids, Taxes or «l to keepBooks Supplies, belonging or to belong to his Majefty, his Heirs or Succeffors, fhall keep a fair Book or Books Mo^csTraived of Accounts in Writing, of all the Monies by him received, in which he or his Deputy or Deputies fhall t>n Pcnalt"^ 'truly enter all the Sums which fnall have been received by him or them, for every fuch Revenue, Aid ! , too J. Tax or Supply, together with the Names of the feveral Collectors from whom the fame or any Part thereof was received, the Days when, and the Sums paid, how much thereof in Money, and how much in fuch Exchequer-bills, and what Exchequer-bills fhall have been exchanged by every fuch Receiver General, purfuant to this Act, to which Accounts every Perfcn concerned fhall have free Accefs at all rea- sonable Times, without Fee or Charge, and the faid Accounts fhall conftantly lie open at one certain Place within the Limits of his Receipt forlhat Purpofe; and if fuch Receiver fhall neglect to keep fuch Book or Books, or to enter therein any Sum or Sums of Money by him or them received and paid, as aforefaid by the Space of three Days after the Receipt or Payment of the fame, or fhall refufe any Perfon or Perfons concerned to infpect fuch Book or Books without Fee or Charge, as aforefaid, every fuch Receiver for ■ every fuch Offence fhall forfeit the Sum of one hundred Pounds to any Perfon or Perfons who fhall fue for the fame, to be recovered by Action of Debt or on the Cafe, Bill, Suit or Information, in any of his Majefty's .Courts of Record at fVejhninjhr, wherein no Effoin, Protection, Privilege or Wager of Law fhall be allowed, or any more than one Imparlance. Bills filled up by LXXXIX. Provided always, and it is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That in cafe any of indorsements, t ^ e E xc hequer-bills, which fhall be made forth by virtue of this Act, fhall be filled up by Writing, or make' torth new Endorfements to be made thereon, as aforefaid, or fhall by any Accident be defaced, It fhall and maybe cjies. lawful to and for the Commiffioners of the Treafury, or any three or more of them, or the High Trea- furer for the Time being, and he and they are hereby authorized and enjoined (by their or his Dilcretions) from Time to Time, to caufe new Bills to be made forth at the Receipt of the Exchequer, in lieu of fuch Bills which fhall be fo filled up or defaced, which Bills fo filled up or defaced fhall be cancelled at the Receipt of Exchequer, and kept there on a File or Files for that Purpofe, and fuch Bills fo to be made forth in lieu thereof, fhall have a like Currency, and fhall in all Refpects be fubject to the fame Rules, Methods, and Continuance as the Bills fo filled up or defaced were intended to have by this Adt, and fhall bear the fame Numbers, Dates, and principal Sums, and carry the like Intereft, as were born and carried by the Bills fo cancelled refpectively. Bills for large XC. And it is hereby enacted, That for the greater Eafe and Difpatch of the publick Bufinefs at the ceedj 5 ""- ol Exchequer, It fhall and may be lawful to and for the Commiflioners of the Treafury, or any three or more each, may be ' °f them, or the High Treafurer for the Time being, and he or they are hereby authorized and enabled iffued, &c. (in cafe he or they fhall fo think fit) at the Requeft of the faid Court of Directors of the Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain for the Time being, to caufe Exchequer-bills for any large Sums not exceeding five thoufand Pounds each, to be made forth at the Receipt of Exchequer, and to be placed as Cafh in the fame Receipt in lieu of the like Value of the Principal contained in Ex- chequer-bills, made forth by virtue of this Act for leffer Sums, which at the Time of making fuch large Bills fhall happen to be in the faid Receipt, which fhall be at the fame Time cancelled and difcharged, and be kept there on a File for that Purpofe, which new Bills for fuch large Sums fhall or may be iffued at the faid Receipt, and have the fame Currency, and in all Refpects be fubject to the fame Rules, Methods, Continuance, and carry the like Intereft, and have the fame Security, Benefit and Advantages, and the fame Pains of Death, and other Pains, Penalties and Forfeitures, for any Crime or Offence relating there- unto, fhall be inflicted, incurred, and put in Execution, as if they had been Bills originally iffued by virtue of this Act; any Thing herein contained to the contrary notwithftanding. Forging Exche- XCI. And it is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That if any Perfon or Perfons fhall forge or quer-bills, counterfeit any Exchequer-bills, which fhall be made forth by virtue of this Act, or be renewed or made on> " forth in purfuance of this Act, or any Endorfement or Writing thereupon or therein, or tender in Payment any. fuch forged or counterfeited Bill, or any Exchequer-bill made forth by this Act with fuch counterfeit Endorfement or Writing thereupon or therein, or fhall demand to have fuch counterfeit Bill, or any Ex- chequer-bill with fuch counterfeit Endorfement or Writing thereupon or therein, exchanged for ready Money, by any Perfon or Perfons, Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, who fhall be obliged or required to exchange the fame, purfuant to this Act, knowing the Bill fo tendred in Payment, or demanded to be exchanged, or the Endorfement or Writing thereupon or therein, to be forged or counterfeit, and with Intent to defraud his Majefty, his Heirs or Succeffors, or the faid Governor and Company of Merchants of Great Britain, or the faid Truftees, or any of them, or any other Perfon or Perfons, Body Politick or Corporate; then every fuch Perfon or Perfons fo offending (being thereof lawfully convicted) fhall be ad- judged a Felon, and fhall fuffer Death as in Cafes of Felony, without Benefit of Clergy. Truftees to have XCII. And it is hereby further enacted, That the faid Truftees fhall from Time to Time have the theCheqnes, &c. Ufe and Cuftody of one Part of all the Cheques, Indents or Counterfoils of all the Exchequer-bills to tfd'r- 1 ' dV'fcke current on this Act, and from which the faid Bills fhall be cut, in order to prevent their being impofed .-.ttheEndof the u P on by counterfeited or forged Bills ; and that fuch Parts of the faid Cheques, Indents or Counterfoils fcven Years, fhall be delivered back into the Receipt of the Exchequer by the faid Truftees for the Time being, at the End or fooner Determination of the faid Term of feven Years. • XCIII.
