And whereas his Majefty's Revenues both of* Cuftoms and Excife are much Iefleried by the elan- All Difir: , ' dell ine Importatioa of Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits and Strong Water;; into this ECi mofl ' Britain, from Parts beyond the Seas, without Payment of any of the Duties by Law chargi able on the ^' ' lame, nnd the fair Dealers in the (aid Commodities much prejudiced in their Trade therein:' For Remedy faSt'tiB whereof, Be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That on or before the firft Day of Auguft one thoufand &c. P 'r (even hundred and twenty, all Diftiilers, Makers or Selleis of or Dealers in Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Strong Exci > . Waters or Spirits, cither Britifh or Foreign, either by Wholefale or Retail, fliall make true and particular ' ' Entry in Writing of all Ware-houfes, Store-houfes, Rooms, Shops, Cellars, Vaults and other Places, by' him, her or them refpectively made ufc of for the keeping of Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Wa- ° 1 ither BritiJJi or Foreign, for Sale, at the Office of Fxcife, within the Compafs or Limits whereof fuch tive Ware-houfes, Store houf'es, Rooms, Shops, Cellars, Vaults, and other Places, (hall be fituated, and alio of all Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits and Strong Waters, Britifl) and Foreign, which at the Time of making of fuch refpeetive Entries, fliall be in Inch Ware-houfes, Store-houfes, Rooms, Shops, Cellars, Vaults, and other Places, and every of them refpectively, on Pain of forfeiting the Sum of twenty Pounds for every fuch Ware-houfc, Storc-houfc, Room, Shop, Cellar, Vault or other Place, which, from and tfti 1 the laid firft Day of Augnjl one thoufand (even hundred and twenty, fliall be fo made ufe of by any fuch Diftiller, Maker, Seller or Dealer refpectively, without making fuch Entry thereof, as aforefaid, toge- ther with the Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits and Strong Waters, which fliall be found therein, and alfo the Calks and Vefl'els whatfoever containing the fame. Store-houfes, Rooms, Shops, Cellars, Vaults and other Places, intended by him, her or them refpectively to be made ufe of for the keeping of Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters, either Brilljb or Foreign, on Pain of forfeiting the Sum of twenty Pounds for every fuch Ware-houfe, Store-houfe, Room, Shop, Cellar, Vault or other Place, fo to be made ufe of by fuch laft mentioned Diftiller, Maker, Seller or Dealer refpectively, without making fuch Entry, as aforefaid, together with the Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits and Strong Waters, which fliall be found therein, and alfo the Cafks and VelTels whatloever con- taining the fame. XIII. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of n Brandy to be Auguft one thoufand feven hundred and twenty no Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters, either brought into Britijh or Foreign, fhall be brought into fuch Ware-houfe, Store-houfe, Room, Shop, Cellar, Vault or fuch Ware- other Place made ufe of by any Diftiller, Maker or Seller of or Dealer in Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Strong il ™ res > & c - . Waters or Spirits, without firft giving Notice thereof to the Officer of Excife of the Divifion or Place in & c . onVorfei-' which fuch Ware-houfe, Store-houfe, Room, Shop, Cellar, Vault or other Place in which fuch Brandy, turir) & c , Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters are intended to be lodged, and producing to the faid Officer, and leaving with him an authentick Certificate, that the Duties charged or chargeable upon all the faid Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters fo intended to be brought in as aforefaid, have been actually paid, or that the fame hath been condemned as forfeited, or was Part of the Stock of fome Importer, Diftiller, Maker or Seller of or Dealer in Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters, of which an Account has been taken purfunnt to this Act, and expreffing the Quantity and Quality thereof, and at what Port or Place the faid Duties were fo paid, or the Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters condemned as aforefaid, or of whofe Stock the fame was Part, on Pain of forfeiting the Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits and Strong Waters fo brought in without fuch Notice or Certificate as aforefaid, together with the Cafks and Veffels whatfoever containing the fame. XIV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of Officers may en. Augitft one thoufand feven hundred and twenty, It fhall and may be lawful for the Officers of his Majefty's ter Wareho.ifes, Revenues of Excife, or any of them, from Time to Time and at all Times, by Day and by Night (and ^•^ D * y J£ if in the Night-time, in the Pretence of a Conftable or other Officer of the Peace) to enter into all and an ' Account o/ every the faid Ware-houfes, Store-houfes, Rooms, Shops, Cellars, Vaults or other Places made ufe of by theBiandy,&c. any Diftiilers, Makers or Sellers of or Dealers in Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters for keeping the fame, and by tafting, gauging or otherwife to take an Account of the Quantity and Quality of all fuch of the faid Liquors, as fhall at any Time be in their or any of their Cuftody ; and if any fuch ObftruaingOf- Diftiller, Maker or Seller of or Dealer in Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters fhall hinder or ficers . forfeits refute the faid Officer or Officers to enter into his, her or their faid Ware-houfes, Store-houfes, Rooms, 5 o1, Shops, Cellars, Vaults and other Places, or any of them, to take fuch Account as aforefaid, or fhall let, hinder or obftruct the faid Officer or Officers in the Execution of any of the Powers and Authorities by this Act given to him or them, the Perfon or Perfons offending therein fliall for every fuch Offence forfeit and Jofe the Sum of fifty Pounds. XV. And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That from and after the faid firft Day of Au- No Brandy, &e. . other Places fo entred as aforefaid, upon Pain of forfeiting the Sum of forty Shillings for every Gallon of Farther Prov Brandy, Arrack, Rum, Spirits or Strong Waters as fhall be fo fold, uttered or expofed to Sale in any fions relating other Place or Places than thofe entred as aforefaid, and in that Proportion for any greater or leffer Quan- hereto nGco. tity. c - 3"' «n. 2.
