An Ad for enabling his Majefty to borrow any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding fix hundred thouland Pounds, to be charged upon the SurplufTes, ExcelTes, or Overplus Monies, commonly called the Sinking Fund, redeemable by Parliament; and for the fur- ther Difpofition of the faid Fund, by paying off one million of South Sea Annuities ; and for appropriating the Supplies granted in this Seflion of Parliament. Moji Gracious Sovereign, Preamble. E your Majefty's moft dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Commons of Great Britain in Parliament VV aflembled, being defirous to raife the neceffary Supplies which we have cheerfully granted to your Majefty, in the eafieft Manner we are able for the Benefit of your Subjecls, have freely and volunta- rily given and granted, and by this Act do give and grant unto your Majefty the Sum of fix hundred thoufand Pounds, to be raifed in fuch Mariner and Form as is herein after directed; and to that End do moft humbly beleech your Majefty that it may be enacted, and be it enacted by the King's molt Excellent Majelty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and «oo.ocol. grant- Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by Authority of the fame, That the Annuities ed to his Majefty w hich by this Act lhall be granted and made payable in refpect of the faid principal Sum of fix hundred TngFuntT. mi ~ thoufand Pounds until Redemption thereof by Parliament, in Manner herein after mentioned, lhall from and after the Feaft Day of Saint John Baptift one thoufand kven. hundred and thirty-fix, be charged and chargeable upon, and payable out of, the Monies, which from and after the faid Feaft Day lhall from time to time arife and be remaining in the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer of or for the Sur- plufTes, ExceiTes or Overplus Monies of the Fund commonly called the Sinking Fund, and the faid Sur- pluses, Exceffes or Overplus Monies, are hereby appropriated for that Purpofe accordingly. Annuities at II. And for or towards railing the faid Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding in the Whole the faid 31. percent. Sum of fix hundred thoufand Pounds; it is hereby further enabled by the Authority aforefaid, That it Troprteton of (hall and may be lawful to and for any Perfon or Perfons, Natives or Foreigners, Bodies Politick or Cor- tbefe Annuities porate, to contribute, advance and pay into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, for his Majefty's 'the 'joint Stock""' ^fe, at fuch Time or Times as (hall be appointed by the CommifTioners of the Treafury, or any 25 Geo. 2. c. 2*7. three or more of them now being, or by the High X reafurer, or by any three or more of the Com- §• 6. miffioners of the Treafury for the time being, any Sum or Sums of Money not exceeding the faid Sum of fix hundred thoufand Pounds, for the abfolute Purchafe of any certain Annuity or Annuities, to commence from the faid Feaft Day of Saint John Baptift one thouland feven hundred and thirty- fix, and to be paid and payable to fuch Contributor or Contributors, or fuch as he, (he or they (hall no- minate his, her or their Executors, Adminiftrators, SuccefTors and Alfigns refpectively, until the Re- demption thereof by Parliament, in Manner herein after contained in that Behalf; which certain An- nuities (hall be computed at the Rate of three Pounds per Annum for every one hundred Pounds, and proportionably for any greater Sum fo to be advanced and paid, and the Purchafe Money fo paid for every fuch Annuity at the Rate aforefaid, is hereby appointed to be paid into the faid Receipt of Exchequer at the Time or Times to be appointed as aforefaid ; all which Annuities fo to be purchafed payable at (hall be paid and payable at two of the moft ufual Feafts or Days of Payment in the Year (that is to faj ) Chriftmas and The Feaft of the Birth of our Lord Chrift, and Saint John Baptift, by even and equal Portions ; the firft Midfummer. payment thereof to be due and payable at the Feaft of the Birth of our Lord Chrift which (hall be in the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred and thirty-fix. The Names of III, And it is hereby enacted, That in the Offices of the Auditor of the Receipt and Clerk of the the Contributor Pells, t.h^re (hall be provided and kept a Book or Books, in which there (hall be fairly entred the Names to be entred. Q f a |j p er f ons wuo ( na ll be Contributors for fuch certain Annuities as aforefaid, and of all Perfons by whole Hands the faid Contributors (hall pay in any of the faid Sums upon this Act, and alfo the Sums paid for fuch Annuities ; to which Book it (hall be lawful for the faid refpective Contributors, their Exe- cutors, Adminiftrators and Alfigns, from Time to Time, and at all feafonable Times, to have Refort, and to infpect the fame without Fee or Reward.
