' creafe and Encouragement of Seamen ; and alfo another Act made in the tenth Year of the Reign of her late 10 Ann. c. 17. ' Majefty Queen Anne, intituled, An Aft for the better collecting and recovering the Duties granted for the i Ceo. 2. c. - Greenwich ; there was given and eftabliihed for the Support of the faid Royal Hofpital, a Duty of fix ' Pence per Menfem, payable by all Seamen ; and by the faid feveral A£ts, it was (among other Things)

  • enacted, That the faid Duty fhould be paid by every Seaman, and other Perfon whatfoever, that fhoukl

' ferve or be employed by his Majefty, or by any other Perfon or Perfons -whatfoever, in any of his Ma- ' jefty's Ships, or in any Ship or Veflel belonging to any of the Subje£ts of Great Britain or Ireland, or

  • ■ Dominions thereunto belonging, or to any of the Subjects of his Majefty, within the Iflands of Jerfey,

' Guernfey, Alderney, Sark, and Man, and every of them reflectively, and within all and every his Ma- ' jefty's Colonies, Iflands, and Dominions in America (other than and except fuch Perfons as in the faid ' Acts are excepted) which faid Duties fhould be paid by the Mafter, Commanders, and Owners of all ' and every fuch Ships and Veffels refpectively, who were authorized, impowered, and required to de- ' duct and detain the fame, out of the Wages, Shares, or other Profits payable or accruing to every Sea-

  • man, or other Perfon employed in any fuch Ship or Veffel, and liable to the Payment of the faid Duty,
