And be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for fummon Com- rne Receiver and Receivers of the faid Duty of fix Pence per Month, payable to the faid Royal Hofpital, Owner" °' n ' s or tneir D e P ut y or Deputies for the Time being, for the better Difcovery of what fhall be due from the Perfons ferving on Board, or belonging to any Privateer, or private Ship or Veffel of War, having a Letter of Marque as aforefaid, by Warrant under his or their Hands, to fummon ail fuch Mafters and Commanders, or (in their Abfence) the Owner or Owners of fuch Privateers, or private Ships and Vef- fels of War, having Letters of Marque, to be and appear at the Office of the faid Receiver or Receivers, within jo Miles, his or their refpective Deputy or Deputies (fo as the Perfon fummoned be not obliged to travel above ten Miles for the making fuch Appearance) which faid Receiver or Receivers, or his or their Deputy or De- and examine the puties, are hereby impowered and directed to examine every fuch Mafter and Commander, or Owner or Number and Owners, as to the Number and Times of Service of all and every Perfon or Perfons belonging to, or of The^Me™" em pl°y e ^ ' n ^ch Ships or Veffels, who are liable to, or chargeable with the faid Sum of fix Pence per ' Month; and if fuch Mafters or Commanders, or (in their Abfence) the Owners, or any of them, fhall refufe when fo fummoned (not having a reafonable Excufe) to appear before the faid refpective Perfons, hereby impowered to examine them in Manner as aforefaid; or if they fhall appear, and obftinately re- fufe to make full and true Difcovery of the Matters aforefaid, upon their feveral Oaths (which Oaths the faid. Receiver or Receivers, their Deputy or Deputies, are hereby impowered to adminifter) or fhall neglect to pay the Monies which fhall be due to the faid Hofpital, within fix Kalendar Months after they fhall have had due Notice from the faid Receiver or Receivers, his or their Deputy or Deputies, to pay to be snfwered, the fame; that then and in every fuch Cafe, all and every fuch Offender or Offenders, for every fuch

i0 ' faid Hofpital, and the other Moiety to fuch Perfon or Perfons as fhall fue for the fame, by Action of Debt, Bill, Plaint or Information, in any of his Majefty's Courts of Record, wherein no Effoin, Wager of Law, or Protection fhall be allowed; and if a Verdict fhall pafs for the Plaintiff in any fuch Action, Bill, Plaint or Information, then fuch Plaintiff fhall have and be allowed double Cofts; and if any fuch the v c ne!not Mailer or Commander fhall attempt to go to Sea with the faid Ships or Veffels, before he hath duly ac- to r sea te tiil the counte d with, and paid the faid Receiver or Receivers the faid Duty for the Voyage preceding; then and Duty of the pre- *d f ucn Cafe, fuch Receiver or Receivers, or their Deputies, are hereby impowered to flop fuch Ship or ceding Voyage Veffel from proceeding to Sea till the faid Duty be paid; and upon the Death or Removal of any Mailer be paid. or Commander of any fuch Ship or Veflel, the Owner or Owners fhall deliver to the fucceeding Mafter, a true Account of the faid Duty due to the faid Hofpital as aforefaid, and Money fufficient for Payment of the fame to the Receivers thereof; and in Default thereof, fuch Receiver or Receivers, or their De- puties, fhall and lawfully may flop fuch Ship or Veflel from proceeding to Sea, until the faid Duties fhall be fully paid and fatisfied. «7 Geo. ». c. 34.
