Ob Oath of the XV. Provided always, That if the Maker or Curer of fuch Red or White Herrings for home Con- ring" tha^they fumption, a t the Time of making the Entry directed by both the faid Acts of the eighth Year of the were'eured only Reign of his late Majefty King George the Firft (in order to have the Cafks and VelTels containing with homemade the fame, marked, and a Permit from the Officer for the Removal thereof) (hall make Oath in Writing he paiU " ty t0 before the Officer to be appointed for receiving the faid Entry (which Oath the faid Officer is hereby im- 8 Geo. 1. c. 4. powered to adminifter) that the Red or White Herrings then entered for home Confumption were cured f«6l. 16, on ]y w j tn g a ] t f the Product or Manufacture of Great Britain, without any Mixture of foreign Salt what- foever, then and in fuch Cafe the faid Red or White Herrings fhall not be charged with any Duty at all ; but neverthelefs the Cafks or Veffels containing the fame fhall be marked, and fuch Permit (hall be given by the Officer for the Removal thereof, as the faid Acts direct, faye only that inftead of expref- fing in fuch Permit, that the Duties had been paid for fuch Red or White Herrings, the fame (hall exprefs that fuch Oath had been made as is before directed ; and if it (hall afterwards appear, that the faid Red or White Herrings, fo as aforefaid permitted to be removed without paying any Duty, were cured with foreign Salt or any Mixture thereof, the Maker or Curer thereof (hall (over and befides the Penalties or Punilhments which he m .y fuffer by Law for falfe Swearing or Perjury) be alfo liable to all the Penalties and P'orfeitures which are by the faid laft mentioned Acts refpectively laid or impofed on any Offenders, that (hall remove Red or White Herrings without Entry, or not paying the faid Duties. 5 Ann. c. And whereas by the eighth Article of the Treaty of Union between the Kingdoms of England ' and Scotland, it was (amongft other Things relating to the Duties on Salt, which Scotland was after ' the Union to be liable to) agreed, That from and after the Union there fhould be allowed five Shil- ' lings Sterling for every Barrel of Beef or Pork fdted with foreign Salt, without Mixture of Briiijh or ' Irijl} Salt, and exported for Sale from Scotland to Parts beyond Sea, alterable by the Parliament of 5 Ann. c. 29. * Great Britain : And whereas by an Act of Parliament made m the fifth Year of the Reign of her faid ' late Majefty Queen Anne, intituled, An Act for the Eafe of her Majejly's Subjects, in relation to the Du- ' ties upon Salt, and for making the like Alloivances upon the Exportation of White Htrrings, Flcjh, Oatmeal ' and Grain called Beer, alias Bigg, as are made upon Exportation of the Hie from Scotland, it was amongft
