' Land Tax;' it is provided and enacted, That in fuch Cafes the faid Refidentiaries fhall not, by this Act, Refidentiaries in or any the Claufes therein contained, be further chargeable, as enjoying Offices of Profit out of the faid ^"r^Me not Rents and Revenues; any Thing herein contained to the contrary notvvithftanding. c argea C. CI. Provided always, That nothing in this Act contained fhall extend, or be conftrued to extend, to lay Nor Pages of any Charge or Duty upon the Penfions or Salaries of his Majefty's Pages of Honour. Provided always, and it is hereby enacted, That in cafe there hath been, or fhall be, any Failure of Receivers Gene* raifing or paying the feveral Sums of Money charged upon any County, City, Riding or Place, by this or "1 to give No- any former Acts for granting an Aid to his late Majefty King William the Third, or her late Majefty Queen | ice p of ^^ r c t - Anne, or his late Majefty King George the Firft, or his late Majefty King George the Second, or his prefent ^ e ^Ste. Majefty, by a Land Tax; the Receiver General of fuch County, City, Riding, Divifion, or Place refpec- tively, of fuch Tax or Airefirnent, or the Receiver General to be appointed in purfuance of this Aft, of the lame County, Riding, Divifion, City or Place, fhall certify, under his Hand, to the Barons of the Court o$ Exchequer, the particular City, Town, Pariih or Place, where fuch Failure of Payment hath hap- pened, together with the Names of the Affeffors and Collectors, and the feveral other Perfons belonging to the faid City, Town, Parifh or Place, charged with the faid Tax ; which faid City, Town, Parifh or Place, or any Perfon or Perfons charged with the faid Tax, within fuch City, Town, Parifh or Place, fhall be liable to Procefs for fuch Neglect in raifing and paying the fame, according to the Directions of the faid Act. CM. Provided always, That the Commiffioners appointed for the County of the City of Lincoln, may Commiflioriefs act as Commiffioners in the Execution of this Ait, or any the Powers therein contained, within the Bair^^^"^^ and Clofe of Lincoln; any Thing in this Act to the contrary notwithstanding. CIV . Provided always, That the Commiffioners for the County of Lincoln may act as Commiffioners in And for the the Execution of this Act, or any the Powers therein contained, within the Parifh of Saint Martin Stam- County, in St. ford Baron, in the County of Northampton, as ufually ; anything in this Act contained to the contrary ^^ n Stamford notwithftanding. CV. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That there fhall be provided Auditor to keep and kept in his Majefty's Exchequer, (that is to fay) in the Office of the Auditor of the Receipt, one Book a R e s lftel '> &c - of Regifter, in which all the Money, that fhall be paid into the Exchequer for the Pound Rates and Du- ties hereby granted, fhall be entered and regiftered apart and diftinct from all other Monies paid and payable to his Majefty. ' CVI. And whereas divers Offices and Employments of Profit, chargeable by this Act, are executed ' by Deputy, and the principal Officers living in Places remote from the Divifion, Pariih or Place, where . ' fuch Offices or Employments are taxable, the Rates and Affeffments for fuch particular Offices and Em- ' ployments cannot be recovered without great Charge and Difficulty;' Be it therefore enacted by the Au- Deputies to pay thority aforefaid, That where any Office or Employment of Profit, chargeable by this Act, is or fhall be for . P " n N ^' E a ' v . executed by Deputy, fuch Deputy fhail pay fuch Affeffment as fhall be charged thereon, and deduct the a n n eri ™[ a t,°e' t o y " fame out of the Profits of fuch Office or Employment; and in cafe of Refulal, or Nonpayment thereof, Diftrefs. fuch Deputy fhall be liable to fuch Diftrefs as by this Act is prefcribed againft any Perfon having and en- joying any Office or Employment of Profit, and to all other Remedies and Penalties therein respectively contained ; and that there fhall be the like Remedies and Penalties for the recovering the Monies affefTed upon any fuch Office or Employment of Profit to the Land Tax for the Year one thoufand feven hundred and fix, and for any fubfequent Year not yet fatisfied, in all Cafes where the Accounts of thofe Years, or any of them, are not otherwife cleared in the Exchequer. CVII. And it is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That at every Time and Place appointed by Receivers Gene- fairly written, to fuch Perfon as the faid Commiffioners, or any three or more of them, fhall, under their place appointed. Hands, authorize and appoint to attend then and therefor that Purpofe, containing the feveral and refpec- tive Sums of Money then and there, or before that Time, paid by the refpective Collectors for each Town or Place in that Hundred or Divifion : And in cafe there fhall be any Refufal or Neglect in delivering fuch On Refute!, to Lift or Certificate as aforefaid, fuch Receiver General, or his Deputy, fo refufing or neglecting, fhall for- forfeit any Sum feit any Sum of Money, not exceeding twenty Pounds, to be impofed by any three or more of the faid ™ C j exceedin S Commiffioners, and to be ordered, levied, and anfwered into the Receipt of his Majefty's Exchequer, in 2 ° fuch manner as by this Act is directed, touching the Fines impofed on Affeffors and Collectors as aforefaid.
